I'm a Lead Software Engineer at ITHAKA, where I work on new ventures in the JSTOR Labs group. Lately, that means a tool to support prospective college transfer students in researching their choices. I also have an MLIS (Simmons) and a longstanding interest in humanistic applications of machine learning. I've taught AI to aspiring librarians as an adjunct faculty member at the San José State University iSchool and been a Library of Congress researcher on a project to apply ML to their collections. In the past, I've written code for the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society, the MIT Libraries, and the Wikimedia Foundation, among others. I was President of the Library & Information Technology Association. I have a BS in math (Harvey Mudd) and an MA in classics (Tufts). Talk to me about AI, alternative education, knitting, our pets, and airplanes.
