Kristen Ratan is the Principal of Strategies for Open Science (Stratos), working with research funders, advocates, and infrastructure providers to accelerate fair, rapid, and complete open research communication. Stratos turns ideas into implementations and delivers tangible results. In 2020, Kristen co-founded ICOR with Sarah Greene of Rapid Science in order to study open research and collaboration initiatives and build a body of evidence and best practices. Kristen has a 20-year history working to accelerate advances in science and research communication through work with organizations such as SPARC, ORFG, NASEM, MIT, Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s, HHMI, the University of California, Santa Cruz, and with prior positions at Coko, PLOS, HighWire, Atypon, and BIOSIS. Kristen is on the board of Rapid Science and ASAPbio. She holds advisory/editorial board positions with Stencila, DataSeer, and PREreview.
