Dr. Melissa Patterson is Director of Editorial Development at AIP Publishing, where she oversees the AIP Publishing journal portfolio which spans multiple fields across the physical sciences. She brings over a decade of experience in developing innovative content development strategies across disciplines and advancing the publisher’s open access initiatives. Melissa is deeply committed to research integrity, reproducibility, and broad accessibility of scientific knowledge. She is also a dedicated mentor and strategic leader, known for fostering talent and building high-performing, collaborative teams. Melissa holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Stony Brook University and completed postdoctoral research at Brookhaven National Laboratory. She also holds a degree in Adolescent Science Education in Chemistry.
