Fewer than 10% of books on the market today are accessible to people with disabilities. New legislation and emerging technologies have the potential to reshape the scholarly publishing landscape, making publications much more accessible to the estimated 1 billion worldwide who have a disability. In particular, the implementation of the Americans With Disabilities Act Title II legislation on April 24, 2026 has potentially transformative implications regarding the accessibility of the content libraries license from publishers.
We will explore the impact this will have on the dynamic between the two.
